My Prayer Today For Darfur

Clean water?

Father
Please bring peace to this wartorn land
Father
Please keep these children safe
Protect them and
Keep them from the hands
Of those who seek their lives
Father
Please give them shelter
From the unthinkable
Atrocities that beleaguer them
Father
Please bring healing
To broken bodies
And gaping wounds
Of ravaged hearts
Father
Bring bread and drink for the body
Bring communion for the soul
Father
Send light
To those on darkened paths
To those who
Have lost their way
And have given way
To sheer and utter madness

Child In The Goz

I saw a child
Ravaged by the crimes of war
And...ooohhh how..I..longed
To take him in my arms
And keep him safe
How I longed to give him back
The love of a mother
That has been so violently
Ripped away from him
By ruthless men with cruel hearts
Bellicose minds
And souls of darkness
For they have sold themselves
To hate and all that is bad
What must his mother wonder
As she stares from the windows
Of Heaven
What will be her prayer
Of intercession to God
For the gift of love He gave her
Her baby boy
Where does she start
And how long does
That list go on
How I long to give
Comfort and tenderness
To the child
For he is alone
In the world, now
My heart anguishes for him
I wish I could go to him
And make him know
He is loved and...
...He is not forgotten!

...the most evil of all wars will rage where hate is allowed to reign and the most violated of all victims will be the ones most innocent.....

In the last three years, in the wartorn region of Darfur, 400,000 people have lost their lives to hate, prejudice, injustice and utter cruelty. 2.5 Million others have been driven from their homes.

Villages are pillaged and burned to the ground. Men are violently murdered, hacked up, their mutilated bodies thrown into the water systems, rendering the water unfit for consumption. Women are gang raped on a daily basis, and sometimes by more than one gang. Children are forced to watch in terror and then subjected to same horrible atrocities. Disease and starvation are way beyond being out of control and U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan has called it catastrophic.

But when do we go beyond mere words and take action to help these, our brothers and sisters?

The very thing we vowed should never, ever happen again is happening. Another holocaust.

We must stop it!!!!!!
