Little Coffins

Coffins, Kigali
Originally uploaded by camera_rwanda.
There were little coffins, everywhere
For the little bodies lying lifeless
Waiting for committal to the grave
The little bodies left behind
In a senseless war of hate
Where evil rages with vicious intent
And reckless abandon
We vowed each time
It should not happen
But, it is happening again
And we do not stop it!!!
We do not hear the children cry
For mothers and fathers
Whose blood runs crimson red
And covers the streets
I feel my heart pounding hard
As though it would escape
From my chest
And I pray, I beg God
For Divine intervention
And His undying mercy
And for no more little bodies
In little coffins

How?

How do we not see?
How do we not cry?
How do we not question
The very heart of humanity?
How do we standy by
While the slaughter happens
And not feel the icy chill
Of our blood running cold?
How do we stare
Into the face of the terrified
Into the face of the horrified
And we ourselves are not mortified?
How do we not reach out
To pull these children
From satan's lair
And rescue them
From men sold to darkness

Sitting By

Need For Shelter
Originally uploaded by Mocha Club.

How can we sit by and allow this to happen?
How it breaks my heart
How it tears my soul
And fills my eyes with tears
How many more will die today
In a land that knows no peace
Where blood of the innocent
Covers the streets
How I cry out to God
For His divine intervention
For man has not intervened
On his own
Forgive us Father
For we have sinned
We have sinned miserably
We have not loved our neighbors as ourselves
We have not loved You with a whole heart
We have not loved the children who lie starving
We have not loved the mother who has been violated
We have not loved the man who was murdered
Who was driven from his home in the black of night
And chopped to pieces in the street
We have not comforted these sick and afflicted
We have not clothed these naked
We have not fed these hungry
We have not given drink to these who thirst
We have not defended these our brothers and our sisters
From the evil that beleaguers them
We do nothing
We let it continue
Oh God, Dear God please have mercy on them
Give them shelter, bring them food and drink for their bodies

Bring the Your Holy Spirit and communion

For their souls

Please have mercy on us
For the sake of Your only, solely righteous Son
Jesus Christ
Forgive us, renew us
That we may delight in Your will
And walk in Your way to the glory
Of Your Holy Name
And rescue these, my brothers and my sisters
In Darfur
Amen
